Like with the PF, you spend an assload of time building the Titan. Tons of work, and isk. This part they got right.
Now, Titans were to be mobile stations, so how theey would work is you would have built the ship, and then you would build mods for it, which it would fit into the highslots. All titans would have 8 highslots, and a base number of 'titan mods'they could fit. The titan skill would also give +1 mod per level (among other bonuses per ship).
The mods would be your basic station services. Medical, repairshop, lab slots, factory slots, offices...etc. There would also be one other mod, a 'must use' mod really, the 'deployment' mod.
Now, to move the ship, you would have to jump it, as per any other captial, but once you reach a destination you would 'deploy'. That is, you activate the deploy mod, which would have a cycle time of around an hour. This would basicly anchor your titan in place. Once anchored, the Titan would transform into a station, and would stay as one, until undeployed. A titan could only be undeployed (piloted) by the person who deployed it (perhaps a corp role would allow it as well). Also, once anchored in place, you could deploy its special 'XL Sentries', which would basicly be the current POs-style defensive turrets. The number of turrets you could deploy would also be affected by the titan skill. Needless to say a titan V pilot could deploy a fair bit of defense (but nothing excessive). Perhaps 2 per titan level.
The titan when anchored would also give off the normal station beacons, but one important thing with it:
The Titan can be totaly destroyed. Also, while ahcnored, it would be quite durable, like a normal station, and take considerable firepower to bring down.
When the Titan is undeployed, ships cannot dock with it, however they can undock from it (so that you cant get stuck mainly), and it would not be as durable when undeployed, also, it cannot use its XL sentries, so it would need to be defended by the fleet it is with.

I was hoping Titans would be something like that. when I heard mobile stations, I figured mobile stations, not just bigger motherships with a giant cloudkil skill.
i also figured Motherships would be the "Omg run away" ships which would have the Battleship-annhilating weapon and be the true command ship of a fleet.
Instead we got carriers, and slightly bigger carriers that people could clone jump out of, and then bigger ships that we can clone jump out of, gang jump (which does sound VERY useful I'll admit) with, and unleash an XXL smartbomb/tactical nuke.
Captial ships are overall pretty depressing to me. Dreads are suppose to be *the* combat ship, but they have a hard time even hitting a BS most of the time, and a MS is going to end up severely out-DPSing a dread, not to mention the fighters will hit smaller ships pretty easily compared to the XL guns/torps which require a scorpion full of T2 painters and double 90% webs to hit with.
